It’s hard to find the right words after riding for such a long time for the same team and mainly for the same Bike company. In 2012 MS joined Mondraker and from that point on, my successful story started its way. I just liked how all the people from Mondraker are into the racing and as the results show I was sitting on the faster Bike available. At the end I am just thankful, that I had been a part of this family
The Austrian downhill flagship rider puts an end to his career after 15 years of racing, where he managed to complete 10 full World Cups, as well as becoming six times Austrian champion, once European champion, and took victory in the overall standings of the European cup.
It could be said that his career began late in comparison to other riders today. It wasn’t so easy in Austria where there wasn’t a structure supporting amateur riders. However, the results prove it was worth the effort, and since his first World Championship race in 2004, he has managed to take part in 72 of them with several top ten results.
He started to ride for the MS Mondraker in 2011. Since then and up to 2016, he has demonstrated to be a really consistent racer, never placing worse than 19th. Together with Danny Hart and Laurie Greenland, he contributed to achieve the #1 ranking overall for the team in the 2016 season.
What the future holds to him is yet uncertain. In all cases, we wish the best to him and his family, especially now he’s becoming a father. Thank you Markus for being part of the Mondraker family
